Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

Neuschwanstein Castle is a picturesque 19th-century palace commissioned by King Ludwig II. Perched on a rugged hill, the castle’s romantic architecture and fairy-tale appearance inspired Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. The interior features ornate halls and artworks reflecting medieval legends and Wagnerian operas. Although intended as a private retreat, it opened to the public shortly after the king’s death. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the castle remains one of Europe’s most photographed landmarks.
