Akihabara (秋葉原), nicknamed "Electric Town," is a district in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo, Japan. It is famous for its dense concentration of electronics shops, ranging from large department-style stores to small specialty shops. Over time, it has also become a hub of otaku culture, with many shops selling anime, manga, collectibles, and video games, along with themed cafés (maid cafés, etc.). On Sundays, parts of the main street (Chuo Dori) are sometimes closed to vehicular traffic, making it a pedestrian-friendly zone.
