Little Island at Pier 55 is an artificial island public park built in Hudson River Park, just off Manhattan's west side between the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. Opened in May 2021, the park sits atop 132 "tulip"-shaped concrete piles (supports) that elevate its landscaped surface above the water. It features undulating terrain, gardens, performance lawns, and walking paths, offering unique views of the river and city. The design by Heatherwick Studio and landscape firm MNLA blends nature and urban architecture, creating a compelling new urban oasis.
