Belize is a small country located on the northeastern coast of Central America, bordered to the north by Mexico, to the west and south by Guatemala, and to the east by the Caribbean Sea. It is the only English-speaking country in mainland Central America. The land area is about 22,966 km² and it is home to diverse ecosystems including tropical rainforests, mangroves, savannas, and the Belize Barrier Reef, which is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. Belize is also rich in Mayan archaeological heritage, with many ancient Mayan ruins such as Caracol, Lamanai, and Xunantunich. Its population is culturally and linguistically diverse, with English, Spanish, Belizean Creole, and various indigenous Mayan languages widely spoken. The country is known for eco-tourism, jungle adventures, cave systems, and world-class marine biodiversity.
