The Na Pali Coast is the remote northwest shore of Kauai, where fluted green cliffs drop straight into the Pacific. There is no road along most of the coast. People see it from the Kalalau Trail, from boats and kayaks, or from the air. Valleys such as Kalalau cut back into the mountains, and waterfalls appear after rain. The name Nā Pali means "the cliffs" in Hawaiian. Summer usually brings calmer seas.
